Nicla and Antonio - A Tuscany Wine Estate Wedding | The Wedding Knot
Nicla and Antonio - A Tuscany Wine
Estate Wedding in the Chianti Vineyards
These lovely spouses are Nicla and Antonio - the story of a Tuscany wine estate wedding and an example of a postponed event due the pandemic. They were supposed to tie the knot in April 2020 however due to major force they had to push the event to October 2020 and have picked an autumn wedding design.
HOW TO POSTPONE A WEDDING
The first months of the year 2020 were of total confusion for all the couples as well as the operators of the event industry. I remember the continuous exchange of emails with spouses and vendors to find availability on a new date and it has been a challenge as most of the autumn dates were already booked. At last we have found a space in October.
As a wedding planner, my aim is to make sure that my couples' interest are guaranteed and executed therefore the first thing I asked all the vendors was to send a new contract with the new date and ensure that all the payments done are not lost but kept as credit for the new date.
Venue – make sure that the conditions previously accorded are honored and check with them if you will have the usage of the same spaces as the original plan, differently ask for your options (for instance the wine cellar that we had for the dinner was not available in October due to harvest time therefore they allowed us to use another room).
Catering – having changed the dinner area, I asked the responsible to come for another site inspection and we modified the dinner logistics based on the new solution. Moreover I made sure that the menu was still valid in October considering the new seasonality.
Flower design - we were planned to have a spring wedding, so we had to restyle the project by modifying the flowers that we have originally picked. And we selected an autumn-theme made of dahlias, grapes and wildflowers which were perfectly aligned to the period of harvest.
Invitations – our graphic designer volunteered to make a new save-the-date e-card to be sent to all the guests. All this on gratuity!
Wedding dress – the wedding dress has no seasonality, so it can be worn in every season. It can definitely be enriched with an accessory such as a fur coat or a stylish jacket.
THE WEDDING DAY
Nicla and Antonio chose Badia Berardenga, a well-known tuscany wine estate that produces up to 40.000 bottles a year of Chianti classico. This was the ideal venue for them as it perfectly matches their personality: a mix between elegance and simplicity.
Onsite there is a catholic church, Abbadia a Monastero, where they had the ceremony. The church was elegantly decorated with red roses, white dahlias, grapes and ivy. Every sigle decoration was in line with the theme chosen by the couple: an autumn wedding with blu and red wild flowers.
The aperitif was set in the garden with italian delicacies and finger foods and followed by the indoor dinner with round tables and fairy lights in the ceiling that created a romantic atmosphere. To finish the party, the wedding cake moment and party was set in the court with entertaining music and lighting.
Thank you Nicla and Antonio for choosing me. I can say that I have ended this season 2020 with a funny and heartfelt wedding that for a moment made me forget the difficult period of this pandemic.
